This authority is inherently unstable because it is tied entirely to the individual’s perceived special status; it cannot be transferred or inherited easily. Authority, Power, and Influence: Key Distinctions

Power is the most encompassing concept, defined as the general capacity of A to compel B to do something B would not otherwise do, regardless of B’s willingness or acceptance.
