Paruresis: Breaking Free from the Bashful Bladder

refers to the inability to urinate in the presence of other people. Also known as bashful bladder syndrome.

AVOIDANT PARURESIS: “A person with avoidant paruresis is unlikely to use a public urinal, since he would be unable to urinate in the presence of other bathroom users.”
