FAILURE TO THRIVE (FTT)

is a medical term which is used when a child, after birth and up to th age of 2 years old has not gained sufficient amounts of weight due to a variety of problems; this typically leads to a progressive decline in responsiveness of the child.

FAILURE TO THRIVE (FTT): “Young children who, for a variety of reasons do not put on weight during their first two years of life, are considered in a failure to thrive state.”
