PARENT-OFFSPRING CONFLICT

a problem which arises whenever parents stop rendering care for present offspring and invest in having the next group of offspring. The parents will reap advantages with regard to reproductive success by breeding again as soon as the present offspring have a high potential from surviving separately. The offspring though, will attain more by ongoing investment from their mothers, fathers or respective caregivers producing the problem. Mother-youth or father-youth problems are produced by way of regressive behavior, consisting of tantrums, by the older youths and by way of sibling rivalry.
