a general philosophical viewpoint stemming both directly and indirectly from the writings of Plato, which postulate that the phenomena of our world are to be truly recognized by pondering them in their most desired forms or abstract essences. Such insight is to be attained by the rational intellect or nous, instead of the senses or the interpretation of such.
